Reliable Radon Testing When It Matters Most

Radon is an invisible, odourless gas that can build up inside homes without warning. At Great West Radon – Kelowna, we help homeowners take proactive steps to protect their families through professional Radon testing services designed to identify elevated radon levels before they become a serious health concern.

We provide access to high-quality radon test kits and advanced digital radon monitoring devices that measure both short-term and long-term radon concentrations. With accurate testing, you gain the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about your home’s indoor air quality.

Concerned About Radon in Your Kelowna Home?

Radon is all we do — and that focus makes a difference. As dedicated radon specialists, we make testing straightforward, affordable, and accessible. Health Canada recommends testing every home for radon, and it is increasingly becoming a standard consideration during real estate transactions throughout British Columbia.

Whether you choose a test kit or a digital monitor, testing your home is the first and most important step toward understanding your radon exposure.

Long-Term Radon Testing

The most accurate way to determine your home’s average radon level is through long-term testing, typically over a period of 90 days or longer. Long-term testing smooths out daily and seasonal fluctuations, providing the clearest picture of true radon exposure.

  • Digital radon monitors offer real-time insights and display both short- and long-term averages without lab processing.

  • Long-term radon test kits are a cost-effective option but require laboratory analysis and more time for results.

Health Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, and lung health organizations all recommend long-term radon testing to confirm whether levels are within safe guidelines.

We offer mail-out long-term radon test kits that can be deployed in your home for a minimum of 91 days, and up to one full year. Once testing is complete, simply return the kit using the prepaid envelope provided. Laboratory analysis is included, and results are sent directly to you. Long-term test results are ideal before proceeding with radon mitigation, although some homeowners choose to act based on digital monitor data as well.

96-Hour Radon Assessment (Short-Term Testing)

For situations where timely results are required, Great West Radon – Kelowna offers a professionally administered

96-hour Radon assessment. One of our certified technicians will install a commercial-grade radon monitor in your home to continuously measure radon levels over a four-day period.

Once the monitoring period is complete, you’ll receive a comprehensive digital report outlining Radon concentrations throughout the test, including detailed hourly readings. This type of testing is most commonly used during real estate transactions, as it provides clear data for a specific timeframe.

If elevated Radon levels are identified, the results may be used to support discussions around mitigation options, including incorporating mitigation costs into purchase negotiations or determining whether further long-term testing is appropriate. For homeowners seeking a true year-round average Radon level, a longer-term test is recommended rather than a short-duration assessment.

We supply a selection of Airthings Radon monitoring devices, including the Corentium Home, Wave, Wave Plus, View, and View Plus, giving Kelowna homeowners flexible options for tracking indoor Radon levels.

These electronic monitors provide both short-term insights and long-term trend data, allowing you to see initial radon readings much sooner than traditional test kits. Each model offers different features and air quality metrics, making it easy to choose a device that aligns with how closely you’d like to monitor your indoor environment.

Accuracy improves as the monitor remains in place over time. In line with Health Canada recommendations, the most dependable results come from monitoring periods of 90 days or longer, ideally during the winter season. When registered with Airthings, these devices are backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty, offering added confidence in their performance.
